The Work of QVRA

A Unique Opportunity
As the largest, independent multi-sport resource in the Quaker Valley, QVRA is in a unique position to manage the transition occurring within today’s youth athletic environment.  The transition starts with “how things used to be” when children went to the park and developed their athletic and social skills by playing different sports and games until dark unsupervised by adults.

Today, we are in the middle of the transition as we transport our children from one organized event to another and pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars for specialized training.   The odds have greatly increased that many of our children will:

      • be forced to choose a single sport by the age of 9
      • emotionally-burn out on the sport by high school
      • endure physical injuries caused by the overuse the same muscles or joints
      • bear the emotional shards of self-doubt that come from too much pressure too soon.

The transition is not complete.  We are not yet at the final destination for youth athletics.  As our society adapts to fast-paced living that comes from greater technological progress, we need to find a way to evolve our approach and use structure to help re-create environments that mirror “how things used to be”.

QVRA believes it’s time for a new type of community-based organization to take back control of our youth athletic environment to help complete this transition.   QVRA is uniquely positioned to become this type of organization because it has:

      • An 30-year established base of core athletic programs;
      • New, dedicated field space at The Fields at Bell Acres, and
      • A leadership and organizational structure that is designed to promote both a male and female multi-sport, multi-school and multi-neighborhood agenda.

Support the Home Team!

The Fields at Bell Acres Project has set a capital development goal of $5,000,000 for creation of the Fields at Bell Acres. We need the support of every family within our community. These fields will be the place that our children will recall when they reminisce about playing sports as a child. Help be a part of that memory. Help repay those the parents and grandparents before us that funded the fields and facilities that we played upon in our home towns.
